  • School Age Services

    Happiness House offers in-depth school age services to help ensure that developmentally disabled children and young adults have ample opportunities to achieve their goals.

    Therapeutic Services

    Clinical services available to school-aged individuals include occupational, physical, aquatic, psychological, and speech and language therapy.

    Recreational Services

    Services include summer day camp, weekend recreational program, and the Teens and Tweens social club. Summer camp and the recreational program are available to children who are enrolled in the HCBS Waiver. Teens and Tweens requires OPWDD eligibility but Waiver enrollment is not necessary.

    Residential Programs

    Happiness House manages a residential home for teens and young adults with developmental disabilities.

    Support Services

    Services include community habilitation, family reimbursement and respite services for teens and young adults with developmental disabilities.

    Service Coordination

    Our services assist families with accessing medical, social and educational services that are necessary for their child's wellbeing.

    Sherrill has a pool, pavilion, gazebo, sports fields, and bowling lanes. The Community Activity Center hosts a batting cage, gym, pool table, etc. Activities may include a volleyball league and pitch league, but their facilities may host a variety of social activities.

    The Broome County Urban League (BCUL) runs a technology center where free or inexpensive computer classes are taught. Learn Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Access, Windows, Online Basics, Keyboarding, or take an Introduction to Computers class. A free open lab is available to anyone who needs a computer.

  • Museums, Aquariums, Parks (MAP) Pass Program

    Museum, Aquarium, Parks (MAP) Passes offer free or reduced admission, are available to Poughkeepsie Public Library District residents who are 18 years of age or older, have a valid email address, and have no outstanding fines. Passes to FDR Presidential Library & Museum are available for all Mid-Hudson Library System patrons.

    Book up to two (2) passes for the same day to combine visits to nearby venues. These may be local places or destinations on getaway trips to the Adirondacks, Albany, Berkshires, Boston, CT coastline, Danbury or Hartford, NYC, Springfield, and Vermont. Always confirm hours and visiting information on destination’s website. Failure to cancel a pass you do not use may result in suspension of pass privileges.

    Passes are available in two formats: Print on Demand and Pick Up/Return at Library. Print on Demand pass: Reserve for day of visit and marked “Closed” when Destination is closed. Print pass when reserving at home or contact the Library to print it for you after reserving pass. Pick Up/Return at Library passes are reserved for the day of pick up, and marked “Closed” when Destination is closed. These can be borrowed for three (3) days (including pick up date), must be returned to library branch where checked out, and a $5.00 per day fine is charged if returned after due date.
