  • Children with Special Needs

    Children with Special Care Needs programs assist children from birth to age 21 to reach toward and achieve developmental and educational goals.

    The Early Intervention Program provides screenings and evaluations for children birth to age two to help identify developmental delays. Once your child is determined eligible for early intervention, some of the services available include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and special instruction.

    The Preschool Special Education Program focuses on the educational needs of children ages 3 to 5 until they are Kindergarten-eligible and is administered through the local school district in which the child resides.

    Immunizations for childrens and adults, dental services for children ages 3-18, confidential HIV testing, Sexually Transmitted Disease testing, lead screening, tuberculosis screening, WIC (Women, Infants, and Children), rabies clinic. To discontinue the spread of disease, FCPH tracks and will follow-up on all communicable diseases. Information and referral are provided through newborn visits, health guidance and Public Health education programs. Screen and refer for Early Intervention and Pre-School Special Education services.     A Multilingual Development Agency is a NYS approved Early Intervention Agency servicing children from birth to three years old contracted by the Nassau County Early Intervention Program.  The Early Intervention Program is a public program funded by New York State and Nassau County.  Therefore we are able provide developmental evaluations and a wide range of therapeutic services for children with NO Out –of- Pocket cost to families.  Your child’s health insurance may be used to cover  some of the Early Intervention costs.
