Description:The Vocational Rehabilitation Services Department at JM Murray assists individuals in developing long-term vocational goals to align with their unique skills and strengths. It is our mission to put people first. Therefore, our vocational rehabilitation services encourage the individuals we serve to focus on the things that they can do, rather than the skills that limit their vocational performance
Prevocational Services at JM Murray provides daily vocational support to people with developmental disabilities who are not yet ready to work in the community. The goals of these services are to enhance work readiness and vocational independence.
Individuals participate in work activities at JM Murray’s Rt. 13 campus to acquire new, improve existing, and retain current work skills. We offer soft skill training, which provides individuals with the skills necessary to be successful in any occupation. Specifically, we assist individuals to improve work skills such as attention to task, time management, and appropriate dress and behavior for a work atmosphere.
In many cases, individuals may benefit from receiving on-the-job training to help them prepare for a successful career. The Vocational Training Services Department at JM Murray teaches valuable work skills in a real work environment. This hard skill training is offered in a variety of areas, including:
•General assembly and packaging
•Manufacturing and production of goods
•Food service training in dish washing, food and sandwich preparation, grill work, and dining room assistance
