Kosher Meals on Wheels provides a choice range of delicious, nutritious, affordable kosher meals home-delivered across the Greater Syracuse area, prepared under the supervision of the Syracuse Va’ad Ha’ir in Menorah Park’s kitchens. Clients much be 60 years old or older and wish to observe Kosher or Halal; unable to shop on a permanent or temporary basis, or prepare unable to prepare meals because of illness, injury, disability, or other limitations or are recuperating at home, or can’t shop because of inclement weather, or just need some help during a difficult period. Volunteers bring Kosher Meals on Wheels right to the home, with delivery sets that include 2 meals providing 2/3 of the daily nutritional needs of an older adult, with juice, milk, and dessert. Medical diets are available as ordered by your physician. The Kosher Meals on Wheels Coordinator performs regular needs assessments in your home and will provide information and links for other benefits, to the Syracuse Jewish Family Service continuum of care management, and to the County social services safety net. Deliveries are made each week between 11 am and 1 pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. They can supply up to seven days’ worth of freshly made meals per week in multiple deliveries, according to choice. They request a day’s notice for any changes to the delivery schedule or number of delivery sets ordered. Clients are asked to make a voluntary contribution to help defray the cost of meals).
