Early Intervention

  • Description:

    Marcus Avenue currently serves nearly 300 children from ages six weeks to five years of age. We offer infant and toddler day care, integrated preschool and self-contained pre-school special education classes with an option of extended care should the family desire. Home and community based services are also available. Marcus Avenue is an approved New York State Department of Education evaluation site. All preschool instruction incorporates the New York State Learning Standards as well as nationally recognized research-based curricula. The program’s mission is to create an enriched learning atmosphere through curricula and goal directed language and play-based experiences. Language based groups, arts projects, use of interactive computer software, music and movement, sensory and structured/directed play, socialization and physical education, as well as a variety of gross and fine motor activities are utilized to stimulate overall developmental progress
