The First Ward Senior Center offers a wide range of opportunities for socialization: affordable healthy meals; exercise and wellness programs and volunteer opportunities. Also offer information about services and programs that help people remain healthy, active and independent.
Sherrill has a pool, pavilion, gazebo, sports fields, and bowling lanes. The Community Activity Center hosts a batting cage, gym, pool table, etc. Activities may include a volleyball league and pitch league, but their facilities may host a variety of social activities.
Greenwood Park, run by Broome County Parks and Recreation offers camping, fishing, boating, picnicking, and cross country skiing.
Broome County Parks and Recreation provides swimming lessons, ice skating, and open recreation programs.
The Binghamton Parks and Recreation Department's mission is to meet the leisure-time needs of the people of Binghamton. Towards that end, we maintain 36 parks and offer a year-round schedule of programs and special events for all ages and interests. From taking a dip in one of our pools or a refreshing sprinkle through the Spray Pad to Little League Baseball to the Levene, Gouldin & Thompson (LG&T) Tennis Challenger Tournament. A tuneful ride on the Recreation Park Carousel to a quiet walk through the historic park itself. While you are there, play on OURSPACE, the largest handicap accessible playground in New York State. We have something for everyone, visit the First Ward Senior Center or stop by the Zoo, carousel and Discovery Center at Ross Park. The Binghamton Parks and Recreation Department wants you to join our fun.
Club members participate in a variety of physical activities that encourage them to adopt and maintain healthy lifestyles, become physically fit and make daily physical activity a lifelong habit. Boys and girls of all ages can participate in intramural sports that promote teamwork and fairness, as well as noncompetitive activities including aerobic exercise, fitness workouts and dance.

The Alley Pond Park Adventure Course is a challenge course, also called a ropes course, that features both low ropes and high ropes course activities that promote teambuilding and problem-solving skills. A series of elements, or obstacles, challenge participants to come together and work as a team to develop and implement solutions. Each element emphasizes different group characteristics such as self-confidence, communication, cooperation, trust, and leadership. Elements of the Alley Pond park Adventure Course include a “zip-line,” a climbing and bouldering wall, a trust fall station, swings, nets, leaps, and balance platforms.
The Arc of Livingston-Wyoming has two recreational programs with a calendar of events to participate in. Call for more details.
Recreation for Kids/Teens
From community parks to area fitness centers and bowling alleys, don’t be surprised where you might cross paths with the enthusiastic participants of the Kids/Teen Recreation program. Two groups (age 8-14 and age 14-18) meet on separate Saturdays for age-appropriate recreation activities. This service is offered at no cost to families.
Recreation for Adults
Adults over 18 receive a monthly calendar. Community outings include bowling, dance class, horseback riding, scrapbooking, sporting events, shopping, and trips to local restaurants. Transportation is included but the cost is paid by the individual with the disability.
The Jewish Community Center (JCC) offers a variety of fitness and workout classes. Personal training, group exercise classes, pool access and aquatic programs, as well as multiple sports programs. Programs and times vary. Call for more information
