The Southern Tier Tobacco Awareness Coalition
The Chemung County Health Department is the lead agency for the Southern Tier Tobacco Awareness Coalition (STTAC).
The Southern Tier Tobacco Awareness Coalition (STTAC) is a community partnership grant-funded by the New York State Department of Health Bureau of Tobacco Control (BTC). STTAC is made up of two main components, Community Engagement and Reality Check. These components work together, seeking to build healthier communities through tobacco-free living in Chemung, Schuyler and Steuben Counties. We have several initiatives and efforts to help us work towards our goal of bettering lives and communities.
Funds will support activities related to the development and operation of outreach interventions in under-served communities and to address disparities based upon culture, ethnicity, age, or gender. Efforts by service providers will include the cultural and linguistic competence of their programs, management and staff.
All children in New York State have access to high quality early care and education programs with sufficient resources to meet children’s physical, educational, and social/emotional needs in environments that support diversity. The Family Resource Network assists parents with questions they might have regarding their child's special education program and Individualized Education Plan. Our advocates primarily support families via phone and e-mail and only very occasionally are available to attend a Committee on Special Education meeting or a Committee on Preschool Education meeting.
For special education issues that need the assistance of an attorney, our Intensive Advocacy Program provides access to attorney consultation for families who meet our eligibility criteria.
While MILC is a non-residential agency, it strives to assist individuals to locate accessible and affordable housing. Additionally, in St. Lawrence County, MILC provides financial assistance through its Solutions to End Homelessness Program (STEHP).
Madison County is truly an agricultural county, where close to 45% of the county's land area is devoted to a variety of agricultural enterprises.
According to the 2012 Ag Census, there are 838 farms in Madison County. Average farm size is 224 acres, while median farm size is 105 acres. Agricultural product sales from these farms totaled $117,730,000. Seventy-four percent of those sales were from the dairy and livestock sectors, while crop sales accounted for 26%.
Cornell Cooperative Extension Madison County offers research-based resources and education to our farming community, and addresses the overall goals of our local agriculture community. Educators help farms to remain viable and profitable businesses by providing comprehensive, research-based information in animal and natural resource husbandry, business planning and marketing, diversified farm products, and technical and financial support opportunities. We connect clients with Cornell University faculty, Extension experts, and with other community agencies that also can provide information and support.
The term forensics is used to identify services that are directly related to the Courts and Criminal Justice system.

The Delaware County Senior Council, comprised of representatives from Senior Clubs throughout the county, serves as an important link between the county's elder citizens and the Office for the Aging. The Council meets at 12:30 p.m., the 2nd Monday of every month at The First Presbyterian Church, Clinton Street Delhi, NY. All Seniors are always welcome to attend.
