What is Family Care?
A licensed residential program that provides a structured and stable place to live within a family unit. It offers support, guidance, and companionship. Family Care providers receive a monthly stipend to provide services within their house or apartment.
How do I choose a Family Care Program?
People seeking OPWDD services must contact the Regional Front Door in your area first to obtain eligibility. Once eligibility is determined, the Front Door will help you figure out which services are best for you and get you into services as quickly as possible. If you have a service coordinator, they will help you too. People who already have OPWDD eligibility can work with their service coordinator to change a service or get a new one. If you do not have a service coordinator, the Front Door will help you get one. Contact information for the Front Door can be found at this link: http://www.opwdd.ny.gov/welcome-front-door/Front_Door_Contact_Numbers
