Support group meets monthly for conversation, friendship, and emotional, moral, logistic, and many other types of support. Offered to those living with paralysis, their families, and friends. Walk-ins and roll-ins welcome.

The Parkinson's Support Group of the Finger Lakes will meet on the last Wednesday of the month. Meeting is open to all and is handicapped accessible. Meetings are open to those with Parkinson's Disease and Caregivers.

Meetings occur one week earlier for the months of November and December due to the holidays. July meeting is a picnic and December is a holiday party.

Family support programs provide an array of formal and informal services to support and empower families with children and adolescents having serious emotional challenges. The goal of family support is to reduce family stress and enhance each family’s ability to care for their child. To do this, family support programs operate on the principles of individualized care and recognizing every child and family is unique in their strengths and needs. Connecting family members to other families with children with serious emotional problems helps families to feel less isolated and identify their own strengths. Family support programs ideally provide the following four core services: family/peer support, respite, advocacy, and skill building/educational opportunities.

All Family Support Programs must reflect the following principles:

Decisions are based on family preference, choice and values

Families are the primary resource and decision makers

Families have access to a flexible, affordable, individualized array of supports

The family’s strengths are the foundation upon which all supports are provided

Support services are culturally, linguistically and geographically sensitive

Family supports are affordable, well-coordinated, accessible and available to all families

This group, open to anyone who has experienced a loss due to death, is facilitated by Sands Cancer Center Coordinator Deborah Wiepert, LMSW, and Eileen Alven, coordinator of chaplain's volunteers within Thompson Health.

Upstate group for panic, anxiety, and depression is a support group that reaches out to individuals that are dealing with issues concerning panic, anxiety, depression and are looking for effective coping strategies as well as support.

Meets 2nd Tuesday, 3:00 p.m. - Support group led by Tanya Bolia and Ellen Wilson, social workers. The support groups form a framework of caregivers who, through group interaction, give each other support in facing the myraid of problems encountered as caregivers of Alzheimer's residents.

Support groups provide a consistent and caring place for individuals affected by Alzheimer's disease, dementia or memory loss to discuss challenges, share feelings, and find emotional support. Group members also exchange information and educate themselves about dementia. Support groups are let by individuals who have undergone extensive training by the Alzheimer's Association.
