The New York State Bar Association is a voluntary bar association for the state of New York. NYS Bar Association provides lawyer referral services and helps people find attorneys or other resources for their legal problems. Referral and Information Service connects with trusted, vetted panel of attorneys for people in need of free or low income assistance.
The mission of the Victims Assistance Center Child Advocacy Center of Northern New York is to strengthen and protect children, families and community through an interdisciplinary approach to cases of child sexual and physical abuse. Our multidisciplinary team promotes early intervention, coordinated investigations, and collaborative action plans. The goal is to provide a safe, neutral, and child-friendly setting for child interviews, coordinating all victim services including medical services to expedite the investigation and prosecution of cases while providing effective and immediate support services with minimal re-traumatization.

Lighthouse Guild provides a full spectrum of integrated vision + healthcare services helping people who are blind or visually impaired, including those with multiple disabilities or chronic medical conditions lead productive, dignified and fulfilling lives.
Action Toward Independence, Inc. (ATI) is an Independent Living Center serving and empowering people with disabilities. The program includes advocacy, education, support groups, peer support, developing independent living skills training, resource assistance, benefits advisement, self-determination, consumer participation (volunteering) and parenting skills training. They also provide technical assistance to community groups (businesses, government and other organizations) to help improve access to services and facilities for people with disabilities. Services include: Autism Parent Support Group, Mental Illness and Chemical Addiction Advocacy, Parenting Skills for parents with disabilities, Mental Health and Disability Advocacy, Parent Advocacy for Sullivan County, and Wounded Warrior Canine Companion Program.
Advocacy/support services may be individual advocacy or systems advocacy (or a combination of both. Examples are warm lines, hot lines, teaching daily living skills, providing representative payee services, and training in any aspect of mental health services. Individual advocacy assists consumers in protecting and promoting their rights, resolving complaints and grievances, and accessing services and supports of their choice. Systems advocacy represent the concerns of a class of consumers by identifying patterns of problems and complaints and working with program or system administrators to resolve or eliminate these problems on a systemic, rather than individual basis.
Programs that intercede on behalf of individuals and/or groups to ensure that they receive the benefits and services for which they are eligible and that organizations within the established service delivery system meet the collective needs of the community; that attempt to marshal public support for a particular issue or cause; or that seek to influence legislation, local ordinances or administrative rulings in order to benefit specific interest groups or achieve specific social, political or environmental goals.
